Yaupon

Botanical Name: Ilex vomitoria

Yaupon is a species of holly that is native to North America and has been consumed by indigenous peoples for centuries as a hospitality drink as well as ceremonially.  It is the only plant in North America to have naturally occurring caffeine and it’s a great option for a little pick-me-up.  Yaupon has an earthy, grassy flavor that is similar to Yerba Mate.

Use 1 Tablespoon of tea per cup of water. Steep 4-10 minutes and enjoy!

Iced Tea: Brew as above and chill or double the amount of tea and pour over a full glass of ice.
